MLB Best Bets Today: Top 3 Picks for Tuesday, September 2nd
It is the middle of the week and the second day of September, so what’s a bettor to do?
With 15 MLB games on the schedule, one could bet on baseball. If you need help figuring out which matchups to target, check out my MLB Best Bets list below.
Here are my top three picks for the day:
Detroit Tigers vs. Minnesota Twins
Detroit has been redefining what it means to struggle at the plate over the last week, hitting just .153 with seven runs scored in six games. With how Dean Kremer has pitched on the road since being acquired by the Twins, I wouldn’t count on them doing better tonight.
As for the Twins, after putting up 15 and 11 runs the last two nights, can we expect another offensive explosion? Eh—I wouldn’t bet on it. Drew Anderson has been tough at home (3-0 with a 2.87 ERA and .242 OBA.
- My Pick: Twins ML at -112 (FanDuel)
With what the run line is set at (Twins +1.5 at -192), the moneyline is the best bet. With how poorly the Tigers have been hitting, there is no reason to think their lineup will suddenly blow up tonight. Minnesota may not do a lot against Anderson, but they’ll do enough to win.
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago Cubs
The Cubbies have been hitting .307 over the last week (best in baseball), but today they’ll face one of the best pitchers in baseball, Jacob Misiorowski (7-4 in 11 road starts with a 1.86 ERA and a .141 OBA). Misiorowski gave up eight runs total in five starts last month.
Chicago may score a run or two, but their lineup will be kept largely in check. However, the Brewers are more likely to follow up last night’s 9-run outing with another solid showing tonight against David Peterson (2-4 at home, 5.95 ERA, .298 OBA).
- My Pick: Brewers -1.5 at +102 (DraftKings)
Peterson has done a decent job in recent outings (making the under intriguing), but with how Milwaukee is hitting and with Misiorowski on the mound, don’t count on much from the home team. Milwaukee will either blow the Cubs away or do just enough to cover.
New York Yankees vs. Los Angeles Angels
With how the first two games of this series went, you’d think the over would be a solid play as long as the number wasn’t crazy high, and it’s not. However, seven is pretty low, especially since these two combined for 10+ runs in the last two.
But if its set that low, there must be a reason and there is. Cam Schlitter has gone 8-2 on the road in 15 starts with a 1.14 ERA. Reid Detmers has a 3.36 ERA at home and a .202 OBA.
- My Pick: Under 7 at -115
Schlitter is one of the best pitchers in baseball today; he’ll shut the Angels lineup down. I don’t think Reid will stop the Yankees lineup outright, but he’ll slow them down enough to keep the final under seven runs.
